Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Panama Caribbean Food (“we”, “us”) operates panamacaribbeanfood.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you book an event and how we use it.
1. Data we collect
- Booking data: full name, email address, and phone number (WhatsApp).
- Payment data: processed directly by Square, Inc. We do NOT store or see card numbers. We only receive the transaction ID and amount charged.
- Usage data: page visits, traffic source (UTM), device type, and approximate location (city or country, never your exact address). Measured with Umami Analytics (self-hosted, no cookies) and with Google Analytics, which does store cookies in your browser.
2. How we use your data
- Manage your booking and assign the corresponding seats.
- Send your confirmation email with event details (seat numbers, meeting point, contact).
- Reach you by WhatsApp or email in case of event changes.
- Comply with accounting and legal obligations.
3. Who we share your data with
- Square, Inc. (payment processor). Their own terms: squareup.com/legal/privacy
- Email provider (cPanel/SMTP) solely to deliver the confirmation email.
- Google(Google Analytics), which receives browsing data to produce the site’s statistics. We do NOT send it your name, email, or phone number. We keep disabled the settings that would let Google use this data for its own commercial products. Their policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- We do NOT sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Retention
We retain your booking data for as long as required by local accounting obligations (Canada, minimum 6 years) and to handle potential disputes or refunds via Square.
5. Your rights
You may request access, rectification, or deletion of your data by writing to [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use two measurement tools:
- Umami Analytics: self-hosted on our own servers, no cookies. It only counts aggregate visits.
- Google Analytics: stores cookies in your browser to recognize repeat visits and understand how the site is navigated. Google truncates your IP address before storing it, so it is never kept in full.
Neither is used to show you advertising or to build commercial profiles. If you prefer Google Analytics not to measure you, you can install the official opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The “last updated” date at the top will reflect any change.
